Kinnaur Kailash is a sacred mountain located in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, India. It is considered a very important site in Hinduism and is believed to be the abode of Lord Shiva. This mountain range is known for its amazing natural beauty and rugged terrain, making it a popular destination for trekkers and pilgrims.
Religious significance of Kinner Kailash
Kinnaur Kailash is believed to be the home of Lord Shiva and this journey is considered extremely auspicious for the devotees. It is believed that this journey helps in spiritual purification and receiving the blessings of Lord Shiva. Kinnaur Kailash Parikrama (circumambulation of the mountain) is one of the major elements of this trip, and pilgrims visit the Shivlinga rock formation, a natural formation resembling Lord Shiva. According to popular belief, this pond was built by Goddess Parvati herself. Also, it was the meeting place of Lord Shiva and Goddess, hence it was also known as ‘Aashiqui Park’. According to another mythological belief, every winter Lord Shiva used to organize a meeting of gods and goddesses at Kinnar Kailash.
According to Hindu mythology, the mighty Himalayan range is the sacred abode of Lord Shiva, where he lives with his wife Goddess Parvati. Kinnar Kailash is believed to be the place where the deity resides. Considered to be one of the most challenging treks, the route to reach this mountain is certainly not easy. The Kinnar Kailash range in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh is located at an altitude of 17200 feet above sea level near the Indo-Tibet border. This is one of the most remote and less explored areas of Himachal, which offers extremely picturesque views.
