12 Days 11 Nights

Trayaksh Yatra is offering you Panch Kedar Yatra in your budget and minimum duration. First of all, let us know what is called Panch Kedar!! Panch Kedar refers to five ancient temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. These temples are important pilgrimage sites for Hindus, especially devotees of Lord Shiva. The Panch Kedar route is a spiritual journey that involves visiting five temples spread across the Garhwal Himalayas. These temples are believed to be the places where Lord Shiva appeared in various forms to bless his devotees.

The Five Panch Kedar Temples are:

1st Kedar – Kedarnath Temple

Located in the Kedarnath region, it is the 1st most famous and northernmost Kedar temple among the Panch Kedar temples. Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva in his “Kshetrapal” form. The temple is a marvel of architecture and attracts millions of pilgrims, especially during the Char Dham Yatra. Kedarnath is said to be the first Kedar among the Panch Kedars, along with this Kedarnath is also said to be the 11th Jyotirlinga out of the 12 Jyotirlinga.

2nd Kedar – Madmaheshwar Temple

Madhyamaheshwar Temple is the second temple among the Panch Kedars in Uttarakhand. Madhyamaheshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, who is worshipped here in the form of Madhyamaheshwar, which means “middle or central Shiva.” This form is believed to represent the middle portion of Shiva’s body, and it is said that this temple marks the spot where Lord Shiva’s navel is located. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that the Pandavas, the five brothers of Mahabharata, visited this temple during their journey to seek blessings of Lord Shiva for liberation from sins after the Kurukshetra war. It is said that Lord Shiva appeared in different forms at each of the Panch Kedar temples to bless the Pandavas, and Madhyamaheshwar is one of those forms.

3rd Kedar – Tungnath Temple

Tungnath Temple is the third Kedar in Panch Kedar. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, the Tungnath temple is located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It holds great religious significance and is considered one of the highest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva in the world. The Tunganath temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva in his Tunganath form, which is considered to be his arms (or hands). According to Hindu mythology, after the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas sought blessings from Lord Shiva and asked for forgiveness for the bloodshed. When Lord Shiva attempted to avoid meeting him, he assumed the form of a bull and disappeared into the ground. Different parts of Lord Shiva’s body are said to have appeared at different places, and Tungnath is believed to be the place where his arms appeared.

4th Kedar – Rudranath Temple

Rudranath Temple is the fourth Kedar among the Panch Kedars. Like other Kedars, this temple is also dedicated to Lord Shiva, located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India. It is a significant pilgrimage site, revered for its spiritual importance and scenic beauty. To reach the temple, one usually starts a trek from the town of Sagar, which is about 24 kilometers from Gopeshwar. The trek to the temple is challenging but rewarding, with spectacular views of the surrounding Himalayas. Rudranath is considered one of the most important temples for devotees of Lord Shiva, especially those undertaking the Panch Kedar pilgrimage. Here he is worshipped as Rudra, which represents the face (or “mukha”) of Lord Shiva. According to Hindu mythology, the five Pandav brothers of the Mahabharata came to Rudranath during their journey to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings and atonement after the Kurukshetra war.

5th Kedar – Kalpeshwar Temple

Kalpeshwar Temple is the last Kedar among the Panch Kedars. This temple is also dedicated to Lord Mahadev and is located in the Chamoli District of Uttarakhand, India. It is the last and the most accessible temple on the Panch Kedar Circuit and holds immense religious significance for Hindus, especially the followers of Lord Shiva. Kalpeshwar Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, whose Kalpeshwar form is believed to hat his hair (jata) manifested. This makes it one of the unique temples in the Panch Kedar circuit. Like other temples of Panch Kedar, Kalpeshwar is also associated with Mahabharata. After the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas sought forgiveness from Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva appeared in different forms at different places to bless them and it is believed that Kalpeshwar is the place where Lord Shiva’s hair appeared.
